EMPLOYMENT HISTORY - NOTABLE EMPLOYMENT 2018 – 2022 Sessional teaching. UTAS Tutoring and lecturing across a range of year levels and courses (further detail provided page 2-5, ‘Relevant Academic Experience’) 2017 Expert Consultant, SCOBY. UTAS Master of Architecture Advanced Design Research unit A&D for Dr Jacqueline Power and Dr Michael Hornblow. 2015 – 2021 Director and Program Manager of the Tamar valley Peace Festival. Securing funding from philanthropic partners and various funding organisations, maintaining and managing festival partners in creating an annual event that supported up to 65 community-focused organisations with an average attendance of six thousand people. The Festival the 2018 Community Event of the Year, awarded by the Launceston City Council. 2011 – 2014 Pathway Planner Department of Education Working across several Tasmanian High schools with a caseload of 150 year 10 students to assist in the transition to further education. This was a band 5 level 6 admin position that required face to face cognitive coaching to guide and empower learners into future pathways of education. As a team we worked closely with the tertiary education sector and business sector creating workshops and field experiences so that students could see the connections between subject choices and career options. This role also included working with the TASC system to guide students into subject choices required as foundation for further undergraduate study. 2010 – 2021 Junction Arts Festival. Commissioned Artist, Performer and Program Manager As a program manager with the Junction team, we worked together in securing funding for artists. I also managed international and local artists and events. This included several community events, such as the Tweed Run and Senior Idol. I have also been a commissioned artist by the Festival on several occasions. For the first Junction Festival, I gained international community support via Textile Guilds to generate the work ‘Pleiades’. Over 3000 hand-felted spheres were individually created and donated to the work. 2003 – 2019 Assistant director of the Tasmanian Poetry Festival. Securing funding from the Australian Council, Arts Tasmania, regional arts funding bodies and local councils. Liaising with philanthropic organisations such as the WD Booth Trust to provide financial support for some Festival events. Maintaining and managing festival partners. Securing guest poets and organising events and venues. Managing volunteers who have followed the festival since 1984. 2005 – 2011 Teacher in Fashion Design and Illustration. Launceston College of TAFE. Writing teaching modules, teaching into textiles science, pattern construction, design elements and principles and illustration. Curator - Sonja hindrum 2014 Dream Home - Castlemaine projection artists Jim Coad & Helen Kelly from Video Architecture explored the notion of home by engaging local community participants Jasper Da Seymour, Sonja Hindrum, Karen Revie, Kitty Taylor, Access Arts Link and nearly 1000 Launceston school children to bring Launceston’s public spaces back to life in an extravaganza of large scale video projections - Included works provided by Sonia Hindrum, Visual Vocations, run by Guaranteeing Futures North, grade ten students, North and Northeastern Tasmania 2014 – March My Heart is a Hall - Stompin - Costumes 2014 – Jan. Connections installed at the Jackeys Marsh Forest Festival 2013/14 Connections . Falls Music and Art Festival. Twenty tents (reclaimed tents that were damaged in a storm) all the ropes that came with the tents, plus 200 meters of rope, 10 meters of stainless steel rope and countless hours. Co-creation with bacterial cellulose in the creative process. Co-creation is being explored through a methodology of care. As a result, a More Than Human Orchestra (MTHO) has been created. July 2017 Professor Iain McCalman, Research Professor of History and Co-Director of the Sydney Environment Institute at the University of Sydney contacted me with the invitation to submit work to be part of ‘cabinet of curiosities’ that will form the website and ultimately a book to accompany an exhibition at the National Museum of Australia in 2018. Understanding Australia in the Age of Humans: Localising the Anthropocene Some of her small textile sculptures exhibited in the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Invited to participate in the Rococo Revolution, Melbourne, as a designer and artist and exhibited pieces in the Women’s Gallery, Carlton. Her fashion work has appeared in Vogue Australia, Australian Fashion Week, Australian Gown of the Year (for which the works toured Australasia), the DuPont Awards and has graced the catwalks of numerous other fashion events. Other costume work has been with Director Jeff Hockley on productions of The Mikado, Into the Woods and Amadeus and with Michelle Cripps on the production of Fiddler on the Roof.
